BMW G80 M3 and G82 M4 Carbon Fiber Steering Wheel: The Complete Fitment Guide
The G80 M3 and G82 M4 are the cars we build the most wheels for, so we get the same questions every week. Here are the answers before you order.
Does it fit my car?
Our BMW wheels are built on a G chassis M Sport core. That covers the G80 M3, G82 and G83 M4, G87 M2, and M Sport equipped G20 3 Series, G22 4 Series, G30 5 Series, G15 8 Series, G05 X5, G07 X7 and F90 M5. The rule is simple: if your factory wheel is the M Sport shape with the two M buttons at the bottom of the spokes, it fits.
We confirm this from a photo of your current wheel and your VIN after checkout, before anything gets built.
LCI vs pre LCI: does it matter?
Yes. The 2024 and newer LCI cars changed the airbag and control layout. Order the LCI version if your car is an LCI, and the standard version if it is 2021 to 2023. If you are not sure, the photo tells us immediately. Our red LCI build and white LCI build are examples of the LCI layout.
Will I lose the heated wheel?
Heating is not retained by default. If you want to keep it, email us before ordering and we will quote a heated build. Same for driver assistance buttons and the M1 and M2 buttons: they carry over, since they live on your factory wheel’s controls, but tell us before we start so the layout is right.
What about the paddles?
Your factory paddles carry over. If you want larger carbon paddles, we offer them in gloss, matte or forged carbon, and magnetic paddles for a firmer click.
LED shift light display
The integrated LED display at 12 o’clock reads RPM from the car and lights up as you approach redline. It is the most popular add on for M3 and M4 owners because it is visible in the car and makes the wheel look like an M Performance part. See the red LED build for an installed example.
Popular G80 and G82 combinations
- Gloss carbon top and bottom, black Alcantara, blue stripe (the classic M look)
- Gloss carbon, black Alcantara, LED display, red stripe
- White or cognac leather grips for Silverstone and Kyalami interiors
- Flat top and flat bottom shape for a racier profile
- Yoke style for the open top look
Pricing
BMW G chassis builds run $849 to $1,449 depending on finish, shape and LED. You pay 50% to start and the balance when it is done. Build time is 3 to 6 weeks and you keep your wheel while we build.
Installation
It is a bolt on swap using your factory airbag and hardware. Most owners do it in under an hour; we also have installers across four states and our own shop in Miami. We send instructions with every wheel.
